“Tangible Connections in the Digital Age”
110 x 35 x 0.5 in, Mixed Media
”Tangible Connections in the Digital Age” facilitates engagement beyond electronics and welcomes the viewer to seek their own discoveries. The durable paper panel forms a physical screen the viewer can simultaneously look at and through, which is an analog response to the digital reality of screen time. The screen has subtle front and back sides, which represent our conscious and subconscious thought processes. Each tile symbolizes a recorded memory or impression as a tactile pixel. The front arrangements indicate how we consciously retrieve these memories and the back view demonstrates how our subconscious might store data and generate associations.
*The modular panel can be assembled in multiple configurations, adapting to the needs of different spaces.
“Garden of 100 Blooms”
53.5 x 37.5 x 01.75 in, Mixed Media
Framed window screen stitched between two pieces of Museum Plexiglass, surrounded by Italian wood moulding 53.5 x 37.5 x 1.75 in
“Garden of 100 Blooms” is a testament to the ripple effect of small actions making a big impact. Creating a bloom a day until there were a hundred is the seed from which this idea became a discipline. Each bloom was designed as a singular work from a global selection of papers, fabrics and ephemera. Layering the materials and reimagining them in a new context is what gives each bloom it’s own signature color, texture and pattern combination. Each bloom was a reflection of the day it was created and collectively, they represents a year’s worth of growth and expansion. The window screen was selected as a non-traditional surface for displaying the blooms in order to explore the concept of a flower box with an indoor/outdoor garden perspective. The blooms catch the light and simultaneously cast subtle shadows through the transparent frame. This interplay highlights how the blooms interact with each other and how the work interacts with its environment. Within this meditative oasis is the knowledge that consistent action can transform what is aspirational into what is attainable.

“Garden of Life” (NOT FOR SALE)
28 x 22 in, Mixed Media
Framed with Plexiglass 23.5 x 29.5 in x 1.75 in
“Garden of Life” was created in 2018 after studiously collecting both inspiration and materials for many years. At the time, extensive international travel was at the forefront of my life and creative possibilities were marinating in the background. When my family and I moved from the US to Europe, my exposure to art and design was abundant and nourishing for my spirit. This continued as we moved from Europe to Asia next, and I was drawn to the prominence of the arts in daily life. The piece came together in S. Korea, where it felt incredibly rewarding to create again after a long pause. The work is a deeply personal one, wherein each individual flower tells its own story based upon the materials used to fashion it and where or who they came from. Overall, it communicates the combined tales of a long journey. It is never too late to return to doing what we love and this collage honors two decades worth of experiences, memories, and relationships.
