“Blue Teapot”

10.75 x 9.5 in, Mixed Media on Calligraphy Board

“Blue Teapot” is an object of beauty on the exterior with its soothing blue hues and represents a source of alchemy on the interior.  Often associated with introspection, family comfort and social gatherings, the beloved teapot is a sacred vessel around the world. Modeled after a striking family heirloom, this compelling image is created from an Italian pastry wrapper, a sparkling water bottle label, artisan papers, vintage hotel stationery, a Japanese postcard, envelopes and security liners, a circus tag, an airline boarding pass, a map, and a cigar label. Much like a teapot can serve as a telling artifact of family history, the mementos we preserve and repurpose offer their own stories to be savored and shared.

“Summer Solstice”

10.75 x 9.5 in, Mixed Media on Calligraphy Board

The circle, regarded as a symbol of unity, is a fitting motif for this colorful collage. It was created during the week of the Summer Solstice immediately followed by a full Strawberry Moon. The circles represent the sun and its moon cycle within the 30 days of June. The decorative papers and vintage ephemera selected for this piece come together in a melodious composition that captures the carefree spirit of summer. Multicolored hues, variegated textures and typographic elements evoke the fullness of the season and the joy of savoring its offerings.

“Sway”

11.5 x 8.5 in, Mixed Media on Paper

Framed with Art Glass 15.25 x 12.5 x 0.75 in

Sway is the embodiment of movement, fluidity, and influence. This collage emerged immediately following a guided meditation, exploring the concept of creativity and how to express it. Being grounded to a source of inspiration allows you to radiate from there in any direction you choose. Breath work and self-observation are tools for receiving the impressions presented by the imagination, without preconceived notions of what the process should look like.
